OK I see what happened. You are sewing the heel together (2 pieces) and then sewing in elastic. On her video with the pattern piece I printed, she uses one square piece and folds it in half to make a casing for the elastic to then feed through. I may have printed an older version (2009), or you may have an even older version here of that pattern. On her video she puts the elastic in differently than what you are doing here. Since you published this in 2014, it wouldn't seem so but I think that's what the issue is!
The pattern you show here is not the same pattern as the DIY Mommy. Could it be her 2009 pattern was changed to what you are showing? The heel on the pattern I printed is more like a rounded square. Please post the correct link to the pattern you are using. Thanks!
