I'm using bulky weight yarn and a 5.5 hook but my hat seems so much bigger than it should be? Am I possibly making the stitches too loose??

Hi! Great tutorial! Is this supposed to be a fitted beanie or a slouchy beanie?

I am a real beginner, so my questions will probably be dumb to you.
    1. I did not understand which needle you are using.
    2. Do you have written instructions? I hope they will help me to make sure that I will make the right size the first time.
    3. Is the yarn you used here a wool yarn? If so, then can you recommend a synthetic one because I am allergic to wool.
Thank you for such an inspiring video.
