This is a two part video knitting pattern for Christmas Gloves. This is aimed at the ambitious beginner knitter.

This video will guide you through every stage of this glove knitting pattern, but will assume some knowledge of knitting and purling in the round using the magic loop method. More unusual aspects such as the star like cast on which is a technique from crochet that I have applied to my knitting, are covered in more detail.

This glove contains individual fingers and thumbs is worked with double knitting yarn and 4mm knitting needles.

Festive Christmas Mittens in double knitting yarn, with flaps that button down to reveal individual fingers. There are fully enclosed and open thumb options.

To fit Small to Medium average ladies hand and children over 8 years.
(To fit a hand up to 20cm or 8inch circumference when measured over widest part of hand, include lower thumb).
They are a slim fitting ladies glove, and a large fit childs glove.

Materials
Six assorted colours in double knitting yarn.
For the main glove allow x1 50g ball for the fingers and thumbs and x1 50g ball for the main hand. Note if you do not require contrast fingers and thumbs, then x1 50g ball will complete both gloves. This is a good way to use up your stash as the Christmas Puddings, berries and leaves take very little yarn. If you do not have a yarn stash then you will require six 50g balls of each colour way.
3.5mm,(US:4) DPN’s
4mm, (US:6) DPN’s
3.5mm, (US:4) cirular needle
4mm, (US:6) circular needle
4mm, (US:G/6) crochet hook
3.5mm, (US:E/4) crochet hook
x3 stitch markers
Embroidery needle

Note – In the video, 100% Supersoft Merino wool, colour cerise, by Woolyknit.com and Sidars’s Snuggly Double Knitting, colour purple 197 were used for the main body of the glove. Remnants were used for the Flaps.

Tension
When selecting yarn look for a typical double knitting ball band tension of 22sts and 28 rows to 10cm or 4in, using 4mm needles (using stockinette stitch).

Note – Create 1 pair of pudding flaps before constructing the main glove.
Make a written note of every row as you go.
